Substitutions, timeouts and rotation

The team panel has one row per team for timeouts, substitutions and the rotation, and under them the court with who's on it. Each button writes a code, the same as typing it on the command line, so undo and the code log treat it the same way.

Call a timeout

Click the timeout button on the team's row, or press:

  • Alt+T (⌥T on a Mac) for the home team,
  • Alt+Shift+T (⌥⇧T) for the away team.

Courtside writes *T or aT. The button shows the timeouts used in the set, 1/2. After two it's off: "No timeouts left in this set".

Make a substitution

  1. Click the substitution button on the team's row, or press Alt+S (⌥S) for home, Alt+Shift+S (⌥⇧S) for away.
  2. Pick the player going Off. The list shows who's on court, with their zone.
  3. Pick the player coming On. The list shows the bench, without liberos.
  4. Click Make substitution.

Before you click, the form shows the code it will write, for example *c06:07 (#6 off, #7 on), and which substitution of the set it is against the season's limit: "This is substitution 3 of 6." One past the limit says "over the season's limit". Cancel or Esc closes it.

You can also type it: c6.7 for home, ac6.7 for away.

The button shows the substitutions used against the season's limit, 3/6. When they're all used, the button is off. The limit is set in Settings → Rules. Checks flag a substitution that breaks the rules, such as an illegal re-entry.

Fix the rotation by hand

Courtside writes each side-out rotation itself. You only need these buttons when the rotation on screen is wrong.

  • Rotate forward moves the setter on one zone (from zone 2 to 1, from 1 to 6). Keys: Alt+R (⌥R) for home, Alt+Shift+R (⌥⇧R) for away.
  • Rotate back moves the setter back one zone. It has no key.

Each writes a setter-zone code such as *z6. Each row also shows where the setter is now: "setter in 2".

If the rotation went wrong some rallies ago, Fix rotations from here in Checks is usually quicker.

Who's on court

Under the team rows, On court · set 2 draws both halves of the court with each player's shirt number in their zone.

  • The setter has a ring and an S badge.
  • The server, the serving team's player in zone 1, is marked.
  • The small number in each box is the zone.
  • The legend underneath lists each team's liberos.

Two buttons change the view:

  • Swap sides (Alt+W, ⌥W) puts the away team on the left. The Point buttons follow.
  • Side view / End view (Alt+V, ⌥V) turns the court so you look at it from the side or from behind an end line.

In the Video layout the court is left out of the team panel to save room.

Coming soon

Libero replacements. Courtside doesn't follow a libero coming on for a back-row player yet. Liberos are listed, and kept out of the starting six.
