Team files (.sq and .vst)

You can bring teams in from, and send them out to, DataVolley and VolleyStation team files:

  • .sq is DataVolley's team file. VolleyStation reads and writes it too.
  • .vst is VolleyStation's own team file.

Import team files

  1. On the main menu, open the Teams tab.
  2. Click Import team file.
  3. Pick one or more .sq or .vst files. You can pick several at once.

For each file, Courtside says what it did:

  • A new team: "Added Harbour City VC with 14 players."
  • A team that's already in the season: "Harbour City VC was already here: added 2 players, kept 12 players as they were."

Players who are already on the team keep their details as they are in Courtside. Only new players are added. A team that's already in the season keeps its own details too: the file's staff, short code and hall are used only when the import creates the team.

What Courtside reads

.sq.vst
Team name and codeYesYes
Short codeYesYes
StaffHead coach and assistant coachHead coach, assistant coach, second assistant, physio and doctor
Home hallNoYes
Each player's shirt number, code, names, role, libero, captain and foreign flags, date of birth and heightYesYes
Each player's weight and attack reachNoYes

A .sq file writes each coach as one piece of text, last name first. Courtside takes the first word as the last name and the rest as the first name. Check a coach with a two-word last name after importing (see Staff).

Export a team file

  1. On the Teams tab, click Export on the team's row.
  2. Pick the file type in the save dialog:
    • DataVolley team (.sq), also read by VolleyStation
    • VolleyStation team (.vst)
  3. Save. Courtside says "Wrote" and the file's path.

What Courtside writes

  • Both types: the team's name, code and short code (the first five characters of the code if you left Short code empty), and the roster.
  • .sq: the head coach and assistant coach, each as "last name first name".
  • .vst: all five staff with their first and last names, the home hall, and each player's weight and attack reach.

Neither type has room for the home city or the kit colours. See Where your details end up.

warning

Dates of birth aren't written to .sq files yet.
