Keys
Every console action with a key can have its key changed. Keys belong to this computer: every season and match on it uses them.
The default keys are listed in Keyboard shortcuts.
Change a key
- Open Menu → Settings and scroll to Keys.
- Click the key next to the action. It says "Press keys… (Esc cancels)".
- Press the new key combination.
- Click Save settings at the bottom of the page.
The new key works at once, and the tooltips and keycaps on the buttons show it.
To put every key back as it came, click Back to Courtside's keys, then Save settings.
Keys that work while you type
Most of the time your cursor is on the command line. So that typing never sets off an action, only keys with Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) or Alt (⌥ Option), or a function key F1 to F12, work there. A key without them shows "Not while typing a code: add Ctrl or Alt." It still works when the cursor is elsewhere.
Conflicts
A key set for two actions is marked "Also used by another action." Save settings then refuses with, for example, "Alt+T is set for more than one action."
A key you've set to type text can't also be an action's key.
On a Mac
- Keys show the Mac way: ⌥ for Option, ⇧ for Shift, ⌘ for Command. Alt+Shift+J is ⌥⇧J.
- Control counts as ⌘ Command: Control+K does what ⌘K does.
- Option changes the character a key types, but not the key: ⌥, still means the comma key. Punctuation keys are named by their place on a US keyboard.
