Typing

The Typing section decides what the command line fills in when a code leaves something out. It belongs to the season and applies at once, also in a match you're coding.

Open it from Menu → Settings → Typing.

Skill for a number with no letter

The skill a bare number gets when Courtside doesn't predict one. Default: Attack.

With Attack, 8 after your own pass is *08AH+, and after the other team's attack it's the counter-attack. See What Courtside fills in.

The rally's first code is still the serve, whatever you pick here.

Read a number after the other team's serve as the reception

On by default. A number straight after the other team's serve is then the reception: after a05SH+, 9 is *09RH+.

Turn it off and that number takes the default skill too, as VolleyStation reads it. You then type R for a reception (9R), or use a dot code or the serve from the rotation.

This setting only decides the reception. A rally's first bare number, or a dot code at a rally's start, is the serve either way.

Default type and evaluation per skill

The table has a column for each skill (Serve, Reception, Set, Attack, Block, Dig, Freeball) and two rows:

  • Type: the type a code gets when you don't type one and it doesn't take one from the touch it answers. Default: H for every skill.
  • Evaluation: the rating a code gets when you don't type one. Default: + for every skill.

A reception, block or dig takes the type of the touch it answers (the serve or the attack), whatever this table says. The same row's evaluation is what a dot code's unrated half gets when the rated half allows it.
