Clips

Clips turn the codes into a video playlist. Pick the touches you want, say every attack by #8 in rotation 1, and Courtside plays each one with a few seconds either side. While you watch, you can fix a clip's code and tick off the ones you've checked.

Clips need the match video open and codes with video times.

Open Clips

  • Coding layout: the Clips tab on the right, beside Checks. The code log stays in view.
  • Video layout: click Clips above the code log. Clips takes the log's place in the column; the back arrow returns to the log.

You can also click Clips above the code log in the Coding layout: it opens the tab.

Pick the clips

The line at the top says what's in the list, for example "Attacks · Harbour City VC · #8 · # · setter in 1 · side-out · all sets". With no filter it's "All codes · both teams · all sets".

  1. Click Filter. The filter opens under the line.

  2. Pick what you want:

    FilterChoices
    TeamBoth, or one team
PlayerAll, or one player (pick a team first)
SkillAll, Serve, Reception, Set, Attack, Block, Dig, Free ball
    SetAll, or one set
RotationAll, or "Setter in 1" to "Setter in 6": where the touching team's setter was
    PhaseAll, Serve, Side-out, Transition
Code textText the code contains, as written, such as D= or a12
EvaluationsClick # + ! - / = to pick one or more. None picked means all.
  3. Click Done to fold the filter back to its line. Clear resets it.

The list updates as you change the filter. Each clip is one touch, in match order.

Touches with no video time can't be clips. The count says how many were left out: "24 clips · 0 checked · 3 without video time".

Play the clips

ControlWhat it does
Play allPlays every clip in turn, from the first. While it plays, the button is Stop.
Prev, NextThe previous or next clip. Keys: Alt+[ and Alt+] (⌥[ and ⌥] on a Mac).
A clip's rowClick it to play from that clip.

Each clip starts a few seconds before its code and runs on a few seconds after it, 3 seconds each way unless you change it in Settings → Video. At the end of a clip the next one starts; after the last, the video pauses. If you move the video well away from the clip, the list lets go and the video plays on freely.

While a clip plays, its code is the picked code: the court shows where it went, and the picked-code keys (such as Alt+E to modify) work on it.

Changing the filter, or leaving the Clips tab, stops the list.

Watch the whole rally

A code's time doesn't always fall right on the touch, for example when you typed several rallies in one go with the video paused. To see the play around it:

  • Rally on a clip's row plays that clip's whole rally, from where the rally before it ended to its last code, then the list carries on.
  • Whole rallies above the list plays every clip as its whole rally. A rally with several clips in it plays once. Click it again to go back to single touches.

Review and fix

Each row shows the set and score (S2 12:10), the code, what it means and its video time, and three tools:

  • Rally: see above.
  • Modify: puts the clip's code on the command line to change it, as in the code log. Press Enter, and the list keeps its place, even if the change takes the clip out of the list. Modifying a clip ticks it as checked.
  • Checked: tick it when you've looked at the clip. The count above the list adds them up.

Typing a code doesn't close Clips, so you can fix one clip after another.

info

Clips keeps its filter, Checked ticks and Whole rallies while you switch to another tab or layout and back. They aren't saved: they're cleared when you open another match or close Courtside.
